I was able to compile it by hand myself, and then replacing --download-xxx with --with-xxx pointing to external packages. Clearly, parmetis makefile, as pulled by --download-parmetis, has an issue. Immediately one suggestion: it would be nice to pull and build the external packages at option separately from the rest of petsc. -- Dominik
