There are many other places for more restrictive permissions by default. Another good example would be dhcpd.conf. If you are assigning static IPs by MAC, it would be advantageous for someone to see your dhcpd.conf so they can do mac spoofing/rewriting on their NIC. I personally don't see why someone unfamiliar to OpenBSD should have to drop to root to read example configure files such as these two. Then again, OpenBSD doesn't seem to cater to the lowest common denominator of users, so who cares? :) - jolan
