I would like to know some results from ml readers.
I tested OpenBSD 3.2-stable with with setup:
CPU Pentium 133
RAM 96 Mb
2 x Realtek (rl0 & rl1) [yes, I know there's better hardware...]
rl0 = 10.0.1.1
rl1 = 10.0.2.1
IP forwarding enabled
---- pf.conf ----
pass in quick all
pass out quick all
-----------------
The test:
10.0.1.10 ---> 10.0.1.1 [PF] 10.0.2.1 ---> 10.0.2.10
It was a FTP transfer between .1.10 and .2.10 and got 3 Mbyte/s as max
transfer rate and the console was not responsive.
Using a switch (instead of the box) I jumped to 6.5 Mbyte/s.
Is there anyone who could try the same test with similar CPUs ?
For example, will PF get a boost from MMX registers ?
