Yep.  I actually saw it as a manufacturing defect, something like 13
or 14 years ago.  Not only did (at least) two NICs get manufactured
with the same MAC addr, but they both ended up at the same customer,
same network, same segment of coax.

That was a fun problem to track down. 8)  Netware network -- Old
versions of Netware use MACs like IP networks use, well, IP
addresses.  Imagine the problems.

No funny software or reconfiguration was involved.

Haven't seen it since, but not dealing with clients that order NICs by
the case anymore either...  That was also when NICs were somewhere
around $150 each, in quantity.  I'm sure today's $8 NICs have a much
higher manufacturing quality and would never experience such a
problem.  (HAHAHAHHAA!!!)
