I've not heard anything back from the list on this topic either.
I believe I understand enough to make something work on my network
and plan to try to implement it next Wed. So by the end of next
week I should know if it makes a difference to the end-users.
I'll post the results I get.

I'd love to hear what you find.

My plan is to twiddle the knobs
empirically once I get the basic setup installed.

I think there's a fundamental lack of understanding on my part, of some of the more esoteric issues (downstream queueing using multiple LAN interfaces, queueing while using NAT, tagging) and how they interact. So, I don't think twiddling will get me there if my basic pf.conf design is unsuitable.

I'm just a 3D graphics programmer who dabbles in OSes and networking and such to stay sharp -- I ain't got the time available to dig in and read the source to really come to a guru level of understanding.

Funny you should mention that. I'm not opposed to paying someone to troubleshoot/design my config. But, once it works, I'd like to publish it as an example (with explanation!) because I've never found an accurate working example of any system of this complexity.

I've heard from a couple of people, will let you know what I find.
