I don't know enough about internals to know whether it would really
make a difference, but it occurs to me that if you're looking
for raw number-of-interrupts performance it might be better to
get one of the older chips that runs (hot) at a clock speed
closer to 4GHz than one of the newer 3GHz-ish (cooler) multi-
core chips. Obviously the answer will depend on how well
the software takes advantages of multiple cpus under this
type of load.
In my experience there's nothing like a benchmark of a
real workload.
