Hi Friends.....
I have a question for you, it might sound as non PFC, but I believe its an
added knowledge for all of us
I want to ask that whether anyone down here has done Page Alert in the
system using PB as the front end tool, I have heard about email alert, but
what I want to know is purely of Page Alert.
Lets put a scenario
Say you are doing Inventory Control System, where one user is
in-charge of Issuing Inventory to the Production Floor.
Whenever an operator needs some inventory from the Inventory
Control, the operator would request for Inventory for the system and then
based on the request, the Inventory user would issue the unit to the
operator (through the system).
Consider also that the Warehouse space of Inventory is also huge, so
after requesting the user moves to the inventory issue counter and ask for
the requested unit, this is when only, the inventory user realizes that
somebody has requested something from the system cos. inventory user was
busy in other work. It might take say 5 to 10 minutes for the inventory user
to get the inventory and issue it to the operator which will result in the
production time loss of 10 minutes, say there are 50 requests processed per
day hence what will happen is (10*50) 500 minutes or 8 hrs and 20 minutes
production time loss...( nearly one man day) which might result in heavy
losses in the profit of the company.
Alternative Solutions
One of the solution I could think is If the system could
automatically page alert the inventory user, immediately after the operator
has raise the request, at least we could manage to reduce at least 50%-65%
of the production loss time.
If anybody out here has anything better than that pls. advise me ASAP.
or If anybody has done this type of programming using PB (with or without
PFC), pls. explain the methodology.....
TIA
