Hi All, I have a requirement to get a text version of a datawindow, for storage in a mainframe based archiving system. This is no problem for grid style datawindows with no grouping, but does anyone know of a way to get the text equivalent of a datawindow with groups? I would have to be able to get the data from the datawindow as it appears to the user on a screen - with group totals, calculated fields, etc. I am basically doing a fesability study on doing this - with the aim of coming up with a method of rendering any datawindow's printed output to a character based version of it. Lines and other graphic elements will be ignored. Any suggested approaches? I am using powerbuider 5.0 with PFC currently, but if a newer version of PB has features that would make this possible then that is certainly a route we would be able to go. The only way I have been able to think of would be to write some code to parse the syntax for a datawindow, and then build an engine that could run text based reports using the same calculations and grouping rules as the datawindow - a horrible prospect. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Regards, Vivian. > [EMAIL PROTECTED] HOSTED BY IIGG, INC.
