Each window will have it's own instance of the menu.  How are you obtaining
a reference to the window?  Be sure you are getting the window's reference
as such:

m_master        lm_menu

    lm_menu = this.menuId        // Assuming that this script is at the
window level
    lm_menu.m_file.m_save.enabled = False
