After you implement Dan's suggestion, you might also try setting the datawindow to Retrieve Rows as needed. This doesn't really increase the speed per se, but the window would appear faster, because all the rows would not be retrieved at once. |--------------------------------------------------------| Daniel Mullings MTSC - Advisory Systems Engineer GTE Data Services Irving, Texas [EMAIL PROTECTED] |--------------------------------------------------------| -----Original Message----- From: Griffith, Daniel M. The way you describe it, it sounds like the query itself is slow, and PowerBuilder can't display anything until MSSql (or any other RDBMS) begins returning the result set. At least in my experience, whenever there is a long delay before data begins appearing, the performance problem is on the server side. For that, you or the DBA will need to check that appropriate indexes are in place, given your 'where' clause, and perform any other query optimizations. If the data starts coming back quickly, but just takes a long time to finish coming back, make sure you have no code (not even a comment) in the RetrieveRow event. Sometimes developers will use the RetrieveRow event to update a "progress meter"; unfortunately, this often impedes the progress being metered. Whenever I've seen benchmarks that show DataWindow retrieval speeds, PowerBuilder is at or near the top. --dang -----Original Message----- From: Andrew Subhagia T. I had a lot of records in my table using MS.Sql 7.0 and I create window with datawindow to show a list of that records. I had to wait almost more than a minute until it appear on my datawindow buffer. To make it appear on first retrieve I use scrollnextrow() function but still can't help me alot to have a flash retrieve. It show on my datawindow vertival scrollbar is moving, while its not finish retrieving, I can not do anything until it completely done. Anyone knows ??? Please help ...
