This was a problem we experienced too. We are running PB7 on Windows 95 and had to
upgrade to the latest PB7 version to get a reasonable development environment. Upgrade
to PB7.01 and then install the EBF version for PB7 , build 7023.

These are other nice features:
When you add an instance variable, compile the script, close the object and reopen it.
Otherwise be prepared that sometimes PB crashes when to go back to another script.

When working with visual objects it seems to be better to doubleclick on an object, ie
a dw in a window, to get to the scripts, then selecting it from the dropdownlistbox.

Don't be suprised when the scripts suddenly don't show up, either double click on the
object or try to close the object and re-open it.

Have fun with PB 7, the most frustrating version I had to work with since I started
using PB using V1.0 a loooooong time ago.
