Today is Ray Bradbury's "There Will Come Soft Rains" Nuclear War Day
First published in 1950, Ray Bradbury's short story "There Will Come
Soft Rains" describes a single house miraculously standing after
nuclear attacks have destroyed the city (and presumably global
civilization), the house still going about its automated duties for a
time, unaware of what has occurred. Yes, remarkably prescient, and
unlike much science-fiction, damned accurate on his predicted dating
as well. The house announces:
"Today is August 4, 2026."
Ray would have hated the world today. I miss him.
