One threat to L.A. and New York school districts, two very different responses
http://www.cnn.com/2015/12/15/us/la-new-york-school-threats/index.html?eref=rss_us Yet in New York, America's biggest school district, students weren't sent home. That's because authorities looking at the same information believe it is a "hoax," said the commissioner. "We've come to the conclusion that we must continue to keep our school system open," Mayor Bill de Blasio said. "(It is) very important not to overreact to situations like this." Those comments, and Bratton's remarks, seem to suggest that New York authorities believe that's exactly what happened in Los Angeles. The New York mayor characterized the email threat as "so generic (and) so outlandish." "There were wording choices and other indicators that suggested a hoax and not anything we could associate with jihadist activity," de Blasio said. "So (we decided) it would be a huge disservice ... to close down our school system." - - - It's important to understand that the top administrators of the LAUSD school system here are well known to be idiots. Basically the same gang responsible for the insane, expensive, and now thankfully aborted (after massive waste) "iPad for every student" initiative here. The level of incompetence at LAUSD is staggering. --Lauren-- Lauren Weinstein ([email protected]): http://www.vortex.com/lauren Founder: - Network Neutrality Squad: http://www.nnsquad.org - PRIVACY Forum: http://www.vortex.com/privacy-info Co-Founder: People For Internet Responsibility: http://www.pfir.org/pfir-info Member: ACM Committee on Computers and Public Policy Lauren's Blog: http://lauren.vortex.com Google+: http://google.com/+LaurenWeinstein Twitter: http://twitter.com/laurenweinstein Tel: +1 (818) 225-2800 / Skype: vortex.com I have consulted to Google, but I am not currently doing so.
