Europe Approves Tough New Data Protection Rules
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/16/technology/eu-data-privacy.html
European officials approved long-awaited data protection
regulations on Tuesday, the latest effort in the region to give
people a greater say over how their digital information is
collected and managed.

What's really going on here? Massive protectionism and disingenuous
lying from Europe's leaders, as they try prop up their own failing firms
and pretend to support "privacy" while pushing massive censorship
regimes like "Right To Be Forgotten" and bolster their own massive
spying on their own citizens' data via bogus "data localization"
demands, and via vast new powers and resources being given to their own
surveillance and intelligence spying regimes. At least Russia and China
are relatively up front about their own abuses. Hypocrisy, thy name is
Europe.
