UK Pre-Crime // New style fake Google phish // Morons on the mailing lists

Pre-crime arrives in the UK with a crowdsourced watch list

http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2015/12/pre-crime-arrives-in-the-uk-better-make-sure-your-face-stays-off-the-crowdsourced-watch-list/

Now, however, Facewatch has been updated so that it can
be integrated with real-time face recognition systems, such as
NEC's NeoFace. Where previously a member of staff had to keep an
eye out for people on the crowdsourced Facewatch watch list, now
the system can automatically tell you if someone on the watch
list has just entered the premises. A member of staff can then
keep an eye on that person, or ask them politely (or not) to
        leave.

A new style fake Google phishing attempt I have not seen before. At least
one misspelling but good enough to fool many people, I suspect.

As you'll no doubt recall from a recent mailing, I have noted explicitly
that I will be sending some items out to the lists that are off-topic
under circumstances that I alone will determine. I urged readers
uncomfortable with that policy to leave the lists at that time. I'm
serious about that. My effort yesterday with that YouTube video I shared
about how steel degrades at far lower than its melting point was a
fairly transparent attempt on my part to sniff out moronic "9/11
Truthers" on the lists, and sure enough I heard from some of them
spouting their vile fantasies. A message to similar pinheads in the
audience -- if you didn't like that one, you're not gonna like other
items that will be coming down the pipe over time, because I will not
withhold discussing reality for the sake of your empty, fanatical
skulls, nor will I further communicate with you if you attempt to contact
me directly. So do us all a favor -- especially me -- and go away now.
As always, the link at the bottom of these mailings takes you to the
list management servers. Thank you for your cooperation.
