The super simple system for sending private messages on the new Google+ https://plus.google.com/+LaurenWeinstein/posts/bc1KfxXGmxv
Several people have asked me lately how to send private messages with the new G+ user interface. One person today reverted to legacy G+ just in order to send me a private message asking how to send such messages on new G+! Actually, Google has vastly improved this procedure between the old and new interfaces -- if you consider moving from a process that took about "3 steps" to describe instead to about "10 steps" to be an improvement, that is. Under legacy G+, you simply started your post with the desired +name, then x'd out the Public label. Done. Here's the simplest procedure that I've found so far in similar circumstances under new G+: 1) Start your post with the usual +name. 2) You'll see Public,+name at the top. 3) Click on those labels -- they're actually a single combined label so it doesn't matter which. 4) This opens up a "Choose one" box that doesn't seem to offer anything useful for sending a private message (at the top will be that combined label you clicked on in the previous step). 5) Click on "See more" at the bottom of the list. 6) This opens a new "Share with" box. 7) At the top of the list in this new box should be the label for your +name that you started with. 8) Click that label and it will go blue. 9) Click "DONE" in the upper right-hand corner 10) You're now returned to your original posting box, and you'll see that only your selected +name is listed at the top (Public is now gone). Yep, utterly simple and obvious. Now that's a user interface M.C.
