Probable cause of today's Facebook, etc. outage
Probable cause of the Facebook downtime today was bad BGP
configuration push triggered by FB around 1530-1540 UTC, that would be
11:40 EDT. Remote admin access to FB data centers was disrupted, and
situation was further exacerbated by low data center staffing due to
covid.
