Update from Google regarding Google Voice changes

I've already received a response to my query to Google this morning
regarding Google Voice changes rolling out in mid-February.

The change that will cause calls forwarded from carrier numbers into
GV to go directly to voicemail (rather than ringing linked numbers)
will *only* affect calls forwarded from carrier numbers (mobile,
landline, etc.) that are linked into the associated GV account.
Calls to carrier forwarded numbers that then forward into GV will
ring linked lines and function as they do now, provided that the carrier
number doing the forwarding is not itself linked into that GV account.

So, a usage scenario that would be impacted is, for example, if you
set your cell phone to forward into GV, and also have the cell phone
number as a linked number in GV. This configuration has sometimes been
used to let GV handle all the calls made to a cell phone that ring the
phone more than N times unanswered. This configuration has however
always risked problematic "call loops" depending on the timing and
number of rings. After the new GV changes, if the cell phone (or a
landline) was linked to the GV account and also forwarded calls to the
GV account, those calls would go directly to voicemail and would not ring
any lines linked into GV.
However, calls forwarded by carrier lines *not* linked into the GV
account will still behave as they do now, ringing the linked lines,
going to voicemail as appropriate, and so on.

Thanks Google for getting back to me so quickly on this!
