Roe v. Wade and the Dred Scott decision

The Supreme Court had hoped that its pro-slavery Dred Scott decision
of 1857 would calm conflicts between states that permitted vis-a-vis
did not permit slavery. Instead it had the opposite effect, enraging
anti-slavery states and leading to the Civil War. Parallels to Roe v.
Wade are obvious.
