Internet ads
I am in general quite sanguine about reasonable Internet ads and ad
personalization. They're what keep the Internet from being completely
inaccessible to people with limited funds. I think most complaints
about this -- including ad blockers -- are nonsense. However ...
There is one aspect that I'll admit drives me nuts, and I don't know a
practical way to fix it. It really irks me to get piles of website ads
for something that I just recently bought. I already bought the damned
thing, now please don't taunt me!
Notably, in some cases you can find "ad choice" links that in theory
let you tell the system you don't want to see this particular ad
again, for any number of reasons. But I have not found this mechanism
to personally be terribly effective.
