IMPORTANT: Federal Election Commission Draft APPROVES Google Plan for Political
Spam Filtering Bypass
The bottom line is that Google is going to have a PR disaster on their
hands if they move forward with this in its current form. As I have
previously suggested, one possible way to reduce the negative impact is
for Google to initially present Gmail users with a clear YES or NO
choice regarding whether they wish to be included in this bypass program
at all. Permitting users to opt-out of individual political mailing
sources as they arrive is not a practical alternative. -L
