Louisiana's porn ID law is a quintessential slippery slope
Of course this is just the beginning. Other states will want to do the
same thing, and the categories of information that will be mandated to
require ID for access will constantly expand beyond porn, to whatever
particular politicians find objectionable. While ID information is
supposed to be untrackable in the Louisiana case, we know that flaws in
systems frequently turn out to permit tracking where none was supposed
to be possible. And of course, anyone who *really* wants to access
such materials without using their real IDs will find ways to do so.
Political theater at its worst.
