AI doing homework
With schools in panic over fears of students using AI to do their
homework, it's worth noting that this is very much NOT a new idea.
One of my favorite books as a child was "Danny Dunn and the Homework
Machine" (1958) -- by Jay Williams and Raymond Abrashkin.
Danny and his cohorts surreptitiously repurpose an experimental
computer (while its creator is away on business) to do their homework.
Ironically, in the end they discover that the programming and data
entry involved was more of an effort than doing their homework
themselves in the first place would have been.
Great stuff. -L
