Concerns about Twitter lockouts with 2FA changes
I've seen some concerns expressed about the wording of a notification
that suggests that if you only use SMS 2FA on Twitter and don't pay
Elon to keep using it, your account may be locked out when they remove
the SMS 2FA, if you don't have alternative 2FA enabled. I don't think
that this is likely a real issue. The blog post announcing the 2FA
changes makes clear that the SMS 2FA will be removed, BUT it makes no
sense to lock out those accounts, when such a small percentage of
active Twitter accounts apparently don't use any 2FA at all (in 2021
it was less than 3% -- those are the latest public figures). -L
