Administrivia: Request: Hyperbolic hate regarding tech is unwelcome here

All,

Of late I've noted a significant increase in disturbing replies to
various of my postings, replies filled with what I would term hyperbolic
hate against tech. Some (but by no means all) of these are coming from
what I would term my "contemporaries," some of whom seem to have bought
into all manner of Right-inspired and/or Left-inspired anti-tech
conspiracy theories, and (depending on whether they now align with Left
or Right) are calling for various contradictory regulatory schemes that
would collectively serve to vastly undermine the usefulness of some of
the most important and widely used services on the Internet, including
those of Google and other firms.

Frankly, I'm dealing with a number of issues these days, and I really don't
need to see those kinds of tirades that (in my opinion) play into the
worst anti-tech scorched Earth rants from both ends of our increasingly
toxic political spectrum.

I view such hyperbolic attacks on these firms (which in some cases
expand to attacks on corporations and charities in general) to be
unsound and counterproductive -- and typically ignoring the devastating
impact that their associated proposals would have on ordinary people who
depend on these services and firms around the planet.

You are all of course free to express such hyperbolic opinions in a wide
range of venues, but I ask that you not express them to me. If you are
unable to control your emotional, hyperbolic replies to my postings, I
urge you to please remove yourself from my mailing lists, so that my
postings won't inadvertently trigger such responses going forward. The
link leading to the mailing list admin pages is at the bottom of every
post.

Logical, reasoned discussion is still very welcome, of course.

Thanks very much for your consideration. -L
