Toy legend Eddy Goldfarb celebrates 102nd birthday with new book

The list of famous toys he created is stunning. In a clip, he tells how
when demonstrating his 1961 invention of the Vac-u-form (a small scale
vacuum plastic forming machine) he burnt the Mattel owner's desk. This
was an absolutely wonderful device and I loved it. Apparently many are
still around, even being used for small parts fabrication today. Of
course you probably couldn't sell it today because of the very hot
surface involved. Just like you couldn't now sell the original Erector
Set I had due to the A.C. powered/geared motor that could have seriously
injured your finger if you stuck it in there. But we didn't stick it in
there. I used that motor and that set to build my first telephone
answering machine. But I digress ... -L
