My CACM April 1 piece from 1999: "Just a Matter of Bandwidth"
With Communications of the ACM just announcing that it is fully
open access (excellent), I thought I'd note an item of mine from there
written almost a quarter century ago. Over the years I've authored
and co-authored various essays that were published in CACM, ranging
from serious to ... not serious. In the latter category, I wrote a number
of April Fools' day columns, which some readers unexpectedly apparently
thought were serious. Fascinating.
