Starting from more or less the late 70s to the early 90s was the
heyday of so-called "premium 900" numbers. Most of us who lived
through that period have walled off in our brains the seemingly
endless TV commercials promoting these, but occasionally such memories
rise unbidden like an unwanted demon from the deep recesses of the
mind, recalling the entire horror in detail.
