About NJ, DJI and Drones
When it comes to drones (or, as in NJ, objects that aren't likely
drones but conventional manned aircraft in a "War of the Worlds"
invasion panic), people go nuts without any clue of what they're
talking about -- or try to use the situation for political purposes.
This is what's happening with the continuing efforts (currently in
Congress at this very minute) to ban Chinese drone giant DJI -- whose
drones are absolutely critical to public safety, law enforcement,
search and rescue, agriculture, utilities and so much more, based on
the THEORY that DJI "could" somehow use the drones to undermine
national security -- something for which no evidence has ever been
publicly presented.
And given that experts feel there are no real practical competitors to
DJI in terms of performance, support, and service, this all looks very
much like political posturing and protectionism with no concern at all
about how many people in the U.S. dependent on these devices may be
hurt. -L
