Yeah, but that version didn't use wxAuiNotebooks there. I've committed a change which should at least fire the alert when the window is minimised, but I've yet to find a full workaround for the IsActive() failure. I also notice that even with 1.12, the alert only seems to fire once. That seems to be a wxWidgets issue.
