Is it possible to have skewed plot marks?. By that I mean plot marks (such as a 
circle, diamond etc.) which are plotted in a way which respects the viewing 
angle of a plot.

For example, if a standard 2-D scatter is viewed directly from the "top" (the 
z-axis direction) the plot marks are fine.

However, if the a scatter plot is viewed from an angle the plot marks shape 
should change. For example the square plot mark, when viewed from the "side", 
would look something like this (a prism):
