Hi, I am trying to install Postgresql on Irix 6.5 with gcc. I first use the default settings. I can install and initdb. But when I postmaster -i I got an error message saying something like .... semct failed (bad address) I have seen this problem in thediscussion group and no noe offered a solution. This problem seems related to the incompatibility of gcc and Irix libraries as explained on the SGI web page. One work around suggested by SGI is to compile with -mabi=64. I tried too.
