My experience with old versions of FileMaker Pro has taught me that it's
worse than a flat file system.  There is a vast difference between easy and
quick.  But I'm sure you have database theorists in abundance to consult.  
I'm redirecting to the pgsql-admin list in hopes that someone will remember
the settings that need to be changed.
