Hello,
I am new to postgres.
I am trying to install Postgres-6.5-1 in my Linux RH6.0 system via tar
files provided by postgres site. I want to have the sources so I am
not using RPM files.

I have uninstalled the previous version from the machine. the step for
'gmake all 2>&1 make.log &' and tail -f make.log works fine.

But after that
#gmake install >& make.install.log &
also works fine
#tail -f make.install.log
Here it only prints thankyou for using the most advanced database
engine.
THere are no sign of any compilation and according to INSTALL file it
does not print gmake[1]:leaving directory ....(point no. 15 in the
file).
Also when i check my /usr/local/pgsql dir i cannot see the data
directory created.
If i continue with the installation at 'initdb' it tells that it has
failed.

Please help me

thanks
alpesh
