I am following the instructions in the techdocs for solaris 8 ( see link below) and I am trying to instal readline 4.2a first. It has not went well so far ...:-(
Easiest way to get tools installed on Solaris ... go to www.sunfreeware.com. They've got readline, gcc, etc all compiled up and ready for installation. Just download and use the command:
pkgadd -d readline-xxx-local
