Bizgres 0.9 is now available from the Downloads section of the Bizgres web
site (http://www.bizgres.org/downloads.php).

The new source package includes the following improvements:

    * Merged with PostgreSQL 8.1.3 source code for full v8.1
       compatibility (Chuck McDevitt)
    * Bitmap-on-disk indexes, reducing index size for some large tables
up to 95% (Jie Zhang, Mark Kirkwood)
    * Faster external sorts, speeding up queries on large data sets by
up to 100% (Simon Riggs, Ayush Parashar, Tom Lane)
    * Numerous improvements and bug fixes to KETL engine (Nick Wakefield)

Note that the 8.1 merge means a dump-and-reload, or replication migration, for
existing users of Bizgres. Sorry, we'll try to avoid that next time.

All applicable patches will be contributed for PostgreSQL 8.2. So you can
download and preview these features -- and provide valuable feedback and
testing -- now.

GreenPlum Inc. will also be offering 24/7 commercial support for the open
source Bizgres Database as well as its own Bizgres MPP for data warehousing
applications. Commercial support packages range from $1995 to $4995. See
Greenplum's web site for more details:
http://www.greenplum.com/news/pressRelease.php?item=20060403

You'll also notice that www.Bizgres.org is a new web site. Web forums will be
operative again soon and will integrate with the Bizgres mailing lists.
Also, the CMS code driving the site will soon be available as an open source
project on pgFoundry.
