We are happy to announce general availability of VMware vFabric Postgres 9.3. 

VMware vFabric Postgres (vPostgres) 9.3 release follows the vision of 
unmodified PostgreSQL Core engine with vastly improving the “experience” of 
using this distribution on VMware Platform including vSphere and vCloud Hybrid 
Services. 

Users of VMware vFabric Postgres 9.1 / 9.2 can use their current licenses to 
upgrade to the new release. 

This release (9.3.1.0) can be used in following main ways 

    * Virtual Appliance for vSphere (Light weight, multi-featured appliance 
including OS) 
    * Special template for vCloud Hybrid Service 
    * Linux installer (RPM installers for custom Linux installs) 
    * Windows MSI Installer (New for Windows 2008 64-bit. To be used for 
development / embedded use cases only) 


This release is based on PostgreSQL 9.3 enabling all its new features . 
For users of vPostgres virtual appliance, there are new enhancements in this 
release: 

    * Multi-purpose appliance image 
        * Single node Server 
        * Database Replication 
        * Web Based UI 
        * pgbouncer, pgpool 
    * vmx-09 virtual hardware version which support upto 64 vCPU, 1TB RAM 
    * Improved auto configuration including Hot-CPU Add 
    * Multiple disk configuration to enable relocation of virtual disks as per 
their IO pattern 
    * Updated base OS 
    * Supports javascript stored procedures (PLV8) in virtual appliance 
    * pgstatspack as an extension 
    * password_checkplus extension for Federal/Gov STIG compliance 
    * and many more 

 
VMware vFabric Postgres is free for non-production use and is licensed per 
virtual machine for production use on vSphere.
