Yeah, this is a known bug in 7.2 and 7.2.1 --- ON INSERT rules fail to
see values inserted by DEFAULTs. It's fixed in current development
sources, and if there's any movement to release a 7.2.2 (which so far
there hasn't been) I might back-patch it for that.
