The email address was provided by the vendor as an OEM contact, and I used it 
to clarify a user query. I was not aware that it was a public mailing list.
The required information has now been received, and this thread can be 
considered closed.

This isn’t going to accomplish much.  You cannot meaningfully recall an email 
you’ve sent out to a public mailing list/internet-at-large.  Your choice of 
distribution medium in this case supersedes any written disclaimer, 
confidentiality, or other privacy-related statements you might choose to write. 
 You need to be more careful in your actions if you want such things to have 
meaning.  You are better off just making a final reply to the original thread, 
drawing it to some kind of conclusion.
