Dear Floor, Thank you again for sponsoring my attendance at pgDay Paris. It was a lovely meeting the pgLadies, Magnus and connect with users outside my usual SIRS (Scholarly Infrastructures for Research Software) network.
Following up on our discussion, As discussed I’d like to (i) propose a 10–15 minute lightning talk on integrating PostgreSQL with the Software Heritage ecosystem (SWHIDs/SIRS). The talk would show how PostgreSQL’s Git history can be archived in Software Heritage and how SWHIDs improve traceability, reproducibility, and long-term preservation of code, extensions, and releases for software as a research product, much of which remains free and open in France. The session would be high-level and practical, aimed at identifying opportunities for deeper collaboration. I’m happy to prepare the talk, coordinate with stakeholders, and support any follow-up. And; (ii) I’d also welcome a brief discussion with the Infrastructure Team on lightweight ideas such as: - Improving archival completeness across repositories and GitHub mirrors - Including CodeMeta in release notes and documentation - Exploring PostgreSQL’s role in distributed preservation initiatives like SIRS I look forward to your feedback and hope there is interest. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
