Hi there,

I'm writing a multithreaded application running on solaris and I would like to
use postgreSQL.
Reading the description of its architecture in the programmer's guide, it seems
that pqsql cannot be safely used in a multi-threaded application, in other words
it is not thread-safe.
Anyway I know of some people who are using postgreSQL and the pqsql library in
multithreaded applications. And it seems to work fine.
I was wondering if they were just lucky or if the problem is just that
postgreSQL has not been tested in multi-thread application, so it cannot be
guaranteed that it will work. I also would like to know if there're plans to
make PostgresQL thread-safe and the back-end a multithreaded process.

Is there anybody that can answer to this ?
Thanks in advance
Massimo
