Oh, you got a point! It does not work since 9.0. I forget it, sorry.
Another way to do it is:
DECLARE
myrow record;
...
BEGIN
myrow := CASE WHEN TG_OP = 'DELETE' THEN OLD ELSE NEW END;
...
