The first alternative I posted at https://www.postgresql.org/message-id/31833.1586817876%40sss.pgh.pa.us seems like it would accomplish that pretty well, by having lines *only* between functions. The last couple of things that have been posted seem way more cluttered than that one. regards, tom lane
