[HACKERS] redundancy and disk i/o

Hi,
    I have two questions

1. Is it possible to set up a set of redundant disks for a database? one

of them being remote from
    the database?


2. If I want to use my i/o routines for disk i/o, is it possible?
    does postgres support such APIs?
