This in some ways is similar to Oracle where the FROM is optional in a DELETE (ie. DELETE foo WHERE ...). By omitting the first FROM, the syntax ends up mirroring the UPDATE case: DELETE foo FROM bar WHERE ... UPDATE foo FROM bar WHERE ...
