Try this:

SELECT count(*)
  FROM (
        SELECT count(*)
        FROM test
        GROUP BY date_trunc('day', test_date)
        ) as qry;

TIP 2: you can get off all lists at once with the unregister command
    (send "unregister YourEmailAddressHere" to [EMAIL PROTECTED])
