Hm, don't think so. If you've autoconfiscated your client code, you can just put in a configure test for one of the newer libpq functions. [ sounds of diff'ing ... ] If you're desperate for an #ifdef solution, it looks like you could test for the existence of one of the PG_DIAG_XXX macros added to postgres_ext.h.
