Would you like to work with incrementally updating materialized views? I am currently deleting then reinserting rows that get updated with a pretty stupid algorithm. If you would like to investigate incremental updates, and work with me on that, it would probably be interesting and educational.
I think I will be doing most of it in PlPythonU at first, then port it to C later.
