[HACKERS] Is there any other way to compile pgsql without gmake

I want to install PostgreSQL 8.1 on  FreeBSD 4.8-RELEASE .

I can't make it with make command.

make
You must use GNU make to build PostgreSQL.
*** Error code 1

Do I install gmake ?
