the unixware.thread.patch file is the bits needed to allow --enable-thread-safety
to work.
the unixware.shlib.patch file places an absolute pathname in DT_SONAME for
the shared library. this will allow us to NOT have to muck with LD_LIBRARY_PATH
nor symlinks out of /usr/lib/
These are against today's CVS.
